What is this?
It’s a recipes blog, with some stories and my thoughts on stuff thrown in.
Who is this twimii?
In the mid-2000s I set up a website to test some web optimisation tools. I called it twimii, The Way I Make It Is*
* I possibly first called it twimmi, The Way I Make Mine Is. I can’t remember now. It’s a long time ago.
I started posting real recipes on that website. And I really liked the name, twimii. It’s pronounced like Timmy but with a Twuh at the start.
Anyway, I liked it so much so that I began to think of Twimii as a character…
Alright. And the toys?
Well, at some point in the 2010s I used Ted, Cow, Rabbit and Twimii for the background of some navigational links in the header section of the blog. I think the toys were images I found on 123rf.com.
Next, I started face swapping Ted, Cow, Rabbit and Twimii into pictures from movies. Below is an example of one of the face swaps.
Then before you knew it, they were full blown characters in my head, running around having odd adventures.

What are the recipes like?
They’re alright. I’m not a great cook. The nice dishes that I do make are all due to this daft website. The Orange & Thyme Chicken is very good. I make it all the time. Most of the recipes I’ve kept on here are things I make all the time or I really loved when I made them.
In 2016 I posted recipes from cookery books by Darina Allen, Delia Smith, Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay. They were really good. I am going to be removing those recipes, but I may have variations of a couple of them.
Well, I’m definitely keeping the Lemon Souffle Omelette because I make it all the time and I have changed it slightly. Also, I love it.
I’m also keeping the Wild Garlic Soup recipe by Darina Allen, even though I rarely make it and I haven’t changed the recipe at all. But it’s just too damn pretty to not include. I mean look at it.
I recently found out that you can post a recipe from a recipe book providing you credit the original source, which I did, and rewrite the recipe in your own words, which I also did (sometimes incorrectly). So I will repost those recipes (eventually), especially Darina Allen’s Irish Breakfast Frittata — which was the most popular recipe book recipe.
When I first started posting real recipes to twimii (or possibly twimmi) I was mostly focusing on developing healthy recipes. I am much more chilled out about that sort of stuff now. I think sugar is fine and that your diet can only do so much for you.
Thanks to my old diet beliefs I have quite a few recipes on here that use only fresh or dried fruit as their sweetener — and I love these recipes. I make them all the time. Mostly to use up aging fruit. Honestly though, I love them.
So I still love my heart-healthy and refined-sugar-free-treats recipes. And I love whenever I develop a new one.
So this isn’t all a joke?
No. Not at all. If you look through the Bits & Pieces, you’ll see some posts where I am very earnestly trying to express what I think and feel about terrible things that are happening in our world. But you’ll also find posts where I’m just exploring things I find interesting or amusing — and my tone in those sorts of posts is much less earnest and more light-hearted. But it is really just what I’m thinking in the moment. I’m not a very serious person. But I care deeply about some issues. If you find that confusing, just know I don’t want to cause you or anyone offence. I’m just expressing myself.
Also, I’m checking what I write with AI before posting, so there should be fewer mistakes — and maybe it will be more readable?
Twimii is a messy mix of recipes, opinions and some, at times slightly odd, stories. It’s always well-intentioned, if not always well executed.
