So I made some changes … Hope you like them.
I’ve been meaning to make some changes for quite a while now. But if I hadn’t accidentally let the hosting expire on the old site, I probably would never have actually implemented any.
Twimii is a mix of recipes, fictional stories and my thoughts and reactions to … whatever I’m focused on.
Previously I posted stories and thoughts in a section called Ramblings & Rants. While Ramblings & Rants was often very rambling I rarely if ever posted a rant. So I think Bits & Pieces is probably a more apt name for the section where I express my thoughts about various different things. And Stories should always have been in their own section.
Have I reposted all the old content into the new twimii?
Not yet. I probably amn’t going to transfer everything over. But I definitely will — slowly — be adding some old posts over. I’m never that quick at doing things. And right now that’s especially true. So yeah, there is a lot less content on the new site. But hopefully I’ve organised things well enough that you won’t notice.
So I redesigned the site just to repost old old content?
No. I tend to neglect twimii for long stretches. So I set up the new site to ensure I would post more with more regularity. And that I would write about a greater diversity of topics. I came up with the Bits & Pieces tags before I had any content for most, practically all, of them. And it’s been fun searching out different topics to write about that will fit into one or more of these tags. It’s forced me to find out about things I might never have known about or look a little deeper into things I should have paid more attention to.
But for now, I still have very few posts in the Bits & Pieces section — I just wrote enough to ensure I had at least one post for every tag before publishing the site.
Also, I’m going to post pages from an old (to me, to you it’s new) screenplay about some vampires, The Mistaken, every week. So there will be some fresh content each week on twimii for … the next few months?
And there will be new Bits & Pieces and Recipes content — but they have yet to be written.
The other change I’ve made is to rewrite most of the recipe posts to be largely free of my personality. Why? Because a lot of traffic to recipes comes through search engines. That may no longer be the case in our AI age — but I realised how confusing the intros to my recipes must appear to people who are just searching for a Black Forest Gateau recipe and they get thrown into a long ramble about how I’d like to visit the Black Forest someday, the place where Kirsch infused chocolate sponge grows wild… That’s got to be a little confusing/irritating.
The intro to the Black Forest Gateau was never like that - but definitely some recipes had long, confusing and very irrelevant intros. So — no more of that.
What? No more recipe fails or misadventures or general experiments?
There will still be that kind of content, I’m sure. But I’ll post it here in Bit & Pieces, under the Food & Nutrition tag.
Oh, another change I’ve made is that I took down the toons. I’m only going to repost them if I finish Foggy Days, because I’ll link the end of the toons to the start of Foggy Days. And there’s another hour of Foggy Days for you, if you’re interested. It’s not something I’ve written recently. I wrote it back in 2021, I think. And then it seemed to be eaten by one of my devices. Anyway, I found it on a different device last year.
I think that covers all the changes I’ve made. I really hope you like the new look. If you’re a bit lost, check the Sitemap that links to every page on twimii.
Every page?
Yeah. It’s 2026, but I’ve set up this site like it’s 2006. Please don’t ask me why. I’ve no good answer.
To be clear, I have used a lovely free template, Yummy Food Blog Template, that’s from 2018. That’s not what makes this site 2006ish (or maybe 1996ish). It’s a flat site. Each page is its own file - crazy way to set up a site that has more than 10 pages.
Anyway, although I’ve gone about things slightly arseways, it’s been fun just tinkering around with it all.
Am I going to find it all so cumbersome to update that I redesign it with some Wordpress template in a few months? Maybe. But if I do it will be because I will have added a lot more content to it — which is the plan really. I want to add more fresh content more regularly. And sometimes I’m more likely to do something the more clunkily I’ve things set up. Again, don’t ask me why.
So, that’s the plan.
That’s a plan?
For now, yes.
Anyway I’m delighted you’re here — Welcome! Stay a while — Take a look around — maybe you’ll find something unexpected in a good way?
