Smorefedore took Jeremy by the hand and solemnly led him to the Magical Shrub. “Now, Jeremy”, said the shrub, “what is the last thing you remember?”
Jeremy thought for a moment.
“Being in the park and Mummy saying ‘Don’t go too far Jeremy!’. I wish I could go back there.” said Jeremy.
“So it is.” said the Magical Shrub.
Without further a word, Jeremy suddenly found himself back in the park. And everything was just how it was.
The old man was still sitting on the bench throwing bits of bread to the pigeons. Parents were still talking and laughing by the side of the playground. Christopher was still waiting patiently by the swings and Mummy was still getting something from her bag.
But where was the soft and colourful armchair? Jeremy looked all around him. It was nowhere to be found.
Mummy looked up at Jeremy and shouted “Don’t go too far, Jeremy!”.
Jeremy ran back to her and gave her a big hug. “Hi Mummy” he said.
“Hello” she said smiling down at him. “What’s that for?”
“I don’t know” replied Jeremy smiling back.
“My little man of mystery.” said Mummy and she tousled his hair.
Jeremy looked over at Christopher, who was at that moment finally getting to sit down on a swing. He ran over and gave him a big push.
