One afternoon Mummy took Jeremy and Christopher to the park. In the middle of the park was a playground they both loved. Christopher ran over to the swings in the playground while Jeremy headed towards the slide.
While making his way to the slide, Jeremy watched a very curious thing occur. In the green area beside the playground a small rainbow coloured armchair suddenly appeared. There in the middle of the grass sat a brightly coloured and oh-so-comfy looking chair.
Jeremy looked around at the other people in the park. No one else seemed to have noticed this magical wonder.
Not the old man sitting on the bench, throwing bits of bread to the pigeons.
Not the parents, talking and laughing as their children played in the playground.
Certainly not Christopher, who was watching the swings, patiently waiting his turn.
Not even Mummy noticed. She was busy searching for something in her bag. But she was still keeping an eye on Jeremy and Christopher. So although she didn’t notice the sudden appearance of a brightly coloured small soft armchair, she did notice Jeremy looking around.
“Don’t go too far Jeremy”, Mummy called out after him.
Jeremy looked at Mummy and then back at the armchair. It was only a couple of steps away from where he was standing now. “That’s not far”, he thought. So Jeremy walked over to the brightly coloured armchair.
“Jeremy”, Mummy called out after him, a slight warning in her voice.
Jeremy turned back to her and said “I’m not going any further Mummy”.
“OK, but I’m watching you”, said Mummy smiling.
Jeremy sat down on the armchair.
