EXT. HOUSING ESTATE - FRONT ROW, EVENING
Lotte and Shay are walking back home. They watch two large trucks loaded down with people slowly roll past them.
Paddy, who is further up the road, slaps one of the trucks which has come to a stop.
PADDY
YOU’RE WELCOME!
Lotte sighs.
LOTTE
It’s all so weird.
SHAY
Yeah. - But I’d rather be here than where I was.
Lotte doesn’t respond. They watch as people are helped off the trucks.
SHAY
I’m in a 3 bed house - by myself.
LOTTE
I’m in a 4 bed.
SHAY
Do you think they’re going to move people about?
Lotte shrugs.
They are now just a few metres away from Paddy.
PADDY
LOTTE, HAVE YOU SEEN DEARBHLA?
Lotte and Shay walk over to him.
LOTTE
She’s over at Barbara’s.
PADDY
Ah, OK so.
LOTTE
Paddy, I know you’re really busy, but is there any way you could add a lock to the door of my house. - I’d just feel so much safer, you know?
PADDY
Well look, I’ve to help sort out these people. But how about after I drop over to you and sure we’ll see what we can do. How does that sound?
LOTTE
That’d be great.
He nods at her and Lotte and Shay continue walking towards the second row of houses.
When they are well out of ear-shot Shay starts talking again.
SHAY
So you aren’t worried about Paddy or Maura then?
Lotte doesn’t say anything for a moment and they continue walking in silence. She then stops and looks at Shay.
LOTTE
Who looks more like aliens to you? - Look, I don’t know. But that house is weird. And they’re oddly ungrateful for all they’ve been given.
Shay doesn’t argue. He just nods his head.
SHAY
Well, good night. - Hey if Paddy can sort you out a lock will you let him know everyone wants one?
LOTTE
Of course.
SHAY
It’s kind of weird they built all these houses without keyholes or locks…
Lotte gets his point and is a little annoyed.
LOTTE
Good night.
